30 Days of Thanks: Day 5

Since today is my dad’s birthday, first I’d like to take the opportunity to post birthday wishes:

Now, I’d like to take this opportunity on my dad’s birthday to be thankful for our parents. Mickey and I are blessed with amazing parents and we really want them to know how much we love and appreciate them. While it seems quite obvious on a number of levels to say neither one of us would be here without our parents (duh), we really wouldn’t be the people we are today without them. Their love and support throughout our lives have made it possible for both of us to find our way in the world and to find our way to one another. For that and so much more, we are truly grateful.

I have basically grown up with two sets of parents. My dad and wonderful step-mom Dorothy have been married for over 20 years now. My mom and step-father John were together for well over 20 years as well. He passed away last September and we all miss “Poppie” as the girls called him. So, I want to make it clear that when I refer to my parents, I refer to all four. I think it took a village to raise me, honestly. 😉 I appreciate the contributions each of you have made into my life and my family. Each of you mean so much to me and I can’t express enough how thankful I am for each of you.

I think we’ve all heard “in-law horror stories”, so I feel like I hit the in-law lottery with Mickey’s parents. They have been incredibly supportive of us and our family every step of the this journey we’ve been on together. Since we live so far apart (Georgia & Michigan), we don’t get to see them many times a year, but our visits are always great. In fact, we are looking forward to spending time with Grammie & PePaw when they come for a visit around Christmas this year.

THANK YOU to all of our parents. We love you all!

Love,
Kelly, Mickey & The Girls
