Spring Fashion: Wedges

May 3, 2011 By kelly 5 Comments

Admittedly, I am not the most fashion forward person in the world. I’m not going to be one of those that pushes the envelope of style, but I certainly enjoy great clothes, shoes and accessories. This spring, I think my favorite fashion item are wedges. Oh my word – they are everywhere and there are some great ones to be found! My favorite thing about wedges is that they give me some height while maintaining comfort. I’ll be the first to admit that stilettos are not my thing. I can’t cram my poor toes down into some pointy shoes with high heels. I mean, I could, but it wouldn’t be pretty. Believe me. Wedges are the perfect solution. Height AND comfort all in one awesome shoe! Who wouldn’t love that?!

I got these Bjorndal “Manchester” wedges recently at Rack Room Shoes:

I don’t think the photo does these shoes justice. They are SO much cuter in person. The color is a nice neutral. They are amazingly comfortable. I can literally wear them all day and not have any issues. If they made these shoes in every color, I’m sure I would have every color they made. That’s how great they are.  If you are looking for a great pair of wedges that go with practically everything – look no further.  These will be getting a lot of wear this summer.

Another cute pair of wedges I got recently came from Payless.  Yes…Payless. Have y’all seen their shoes for summer? CUTE!! I am hard on shoes, so I don’t often spend a ton on them. It makes no sense for me to drop big bucks on shoes that I am going to have to replace by the end of a season in all likelihood. So, yes, I even buy shoes at Payless. And, I like them. Don’t write them off – they do have cute shoes. Like these Montego Bay wedges in pewter:

Seriously…how cute are those?! They go with so many things AND they are pretty comfortable too. I got them last Friday and I have already worn them twice. I’m a big fan of these fun shoes.

I’m currently on the hunt for some great black wedges. I haven’t found any in person yet that I just had to have. This is probably great news to my husband. 😉 I’m a woman on a mission and I *will* find cute black wedges soon. It’s a must. I have decided to wear dresses often this summer, so what better compliment to a cute dress than cute wedges? If you all see any cute ones, post some links. I have to try on most shoes these days, so I need to be able to try them on, of course. But, it never hurts to “window shop” online.

Happy spring,

Kelly

WHO Wednesday

April 27, 2011 By kelly Leave a Comment

Welcome to my second installment of WHO (What’s Hot Online) Wednesday. WHO will be a collect of various things – great blogs, articles of interest, recipes, news stories, etc. I’m always open to suggestions if you all have any to share. Hit me with ’em!!

Today’s WHO is a video that went viral over Easter weekend. “How Great Thou Art” is one of my all-time favorite hymns.  Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill perform this version together. I am a HUGE fan of country music, so to hear these two talented artists sing this hymn is just awesome to me. I hope you all enjoy it:

Product Review & Recipe

April 26, 2011 By kelly Leave a Comment

Last week I blogged about discovering the website Kraft First Taste. In that post, I mentioned getting a coupon for Philadelphia Cooking Cream. This evening I tried the cooking creme for the first time. I used the “savory garlic” flavored cooking creme and, oh my, it was fantastic!!! I used the recipe on the back of the package and it was not only easy to prepare, but tasted amazing!! I just had to share.

Creamy Chicken Florentine

Prep Time: 10 minutes    Total Time: 22 minutes    Makes: 4 servings

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
1/2 cup halved red pepper strips (I chopped one whole small red bell pepper)
1 package (6oz) baby spinach leaves
1 tub (10 oz) PHILADELPHIA  Savory Garlic Cooking Creme
2 cups hot cooked penne pasta
2 Tbsp roasted pine nuts , optional (we didn’t have, so I omited)

Cook chicken and peppers in large nonstick skillet on medium heat 5-6 minutes or until chicken is done. Add spinach; cook and stir 2-3 minutes or until wilted. Drain all bout 1Tbsp of liquid. (I didn’t have any liquid to drain) Add cooking creme; cook and stir 3 minutes. Stir in pasta. Top with pine nuts if desired.

***************

Like I said, this was crazy easy to prepare.  It was no trouble at all.  The taste? Amazing!! Macey, our second grader, loved it too.  She especially liked the spinach and she ate the red bell peppers willingly which is a first for her. I appreciated that the veggies were incorporated right into the main dish. How easy is that for a busy week night? YUM!!

I also have the Italian Cheese and Herb variety of the cooking creme and I’m really excited to try that soon. I have a pizza crust ready to bake at home,  so maybe I’ll make the Easy Tomato-Basil Pizza one night this week. Sounds good, right? I’ll keep y’all posted.

Blessings,

Kelly

Free 8×10 Canvas from Winkflash

April 26, 2011 By kelly 1 Comment

I got an email this morning that caught my attention and I wanted to share it with you all. Winkflash has an offer for new customers to receive a free 8×10 gallery wrap canvas print. That is a $49.99 value and all you have to pay then is shipping and handling. We’re so close to Mother’s Day and I thought this might be a great gift idea for some out there.  The code for that deal is CANVASPRINTS4ME. This offer expires April 28, 2011.

Other Winkflash deals

I also just noticed that Winkflash is offering 40% off on gifts. If you already have an account and aren’t eligible for the free canvas print, the 40% off deal is a great way to save on prints and gift. The code for that is ILOVEMYMOM and it expires on April 28, 2011.

Another great deal they have going is flat rate on photo books up to 100 pages. This means you pay the base price for books up to 100 pages. I used this deal when I created a photo book from our first trip to Walt Disney World. I saved a bundle because I used all 100 pages and got the base rate. The code for that is ALLBOOKS and it ends April 28, 2011.

There are tons of deals to be found on WinkFlash! If you haven’t ever used them for prints, I recommend them. I have gotten Christmas cards, photo books and prints there. I’ve really been happy with the quality of prints from WinkFlash. There was one time that I ordered two sets of prints and in one the color was just a bit off. I sent it back with an explanation and not only did they reprint those for me, but they reprinted the whole order and expedited shipping back to me. I was impressed that they fixed their mistake (nobody’s perfect) in such a timely manner. I will admit that I rarely get prints made – digitals have spoiled me. However, if I do get them, I either go with WinkFlash or CostCo for my prints. You can’t go wrong for the price and quality.

Blessings,

Kelly

Kraft First Taste

April 21, 2011 By kelly Leave a Comment

I was referred to a cool website today.  I thought about saving it for my next WHO, but I couldn’t wait that long. What can I say? I’m eager to share. 🙂

Check out Kraft First Taste. This is a great website that I discovered after it was recommended by a friend. Once you register, you can get great coupons for free items, join in message board discussions and more. When I joined today, I was able to print a coupon for a free container of Philadelphia Cooking Cream. I’ve been wanting to try that, so what better way to try than if it’s FREE? Nice, right? Now I just have to decide which flavor to choose because they all sound really good. That’s not a bad problem to have if you ask me.

This a great website and I’m happy to share the link. Hope y’all like it!

Blessings,

Kelly
